April 1st started like any other calm, predictable day in real estate…
At 8:03 AM, I got a message:
“Hey! Can we see 12 houses today?” 🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡🏡
“Sure! What’s your timeline?” ⏰
“We leave town in 2 hours.” 2️⃣
Perfect. Love that for us. 💖
By 9:15 AM, I was unlocking a door while my client asked, “Is this a good deal?” as I simultaneously googled, texted a lender, checked comps, and tried to remember if I had eaten anything besides coffee. ☕
At the second house, we walked in and were immediately greeted by a mysterious smell. My client said, “What is that?”
I said, “Opportunity.” 🐠
By house #5, they turned to me and said, “We don’t want anything with carpet, stairs, small rooms, big rooms, neighbors, or… vibes.”
Amazing. Narrowing it down.
Around noon, I got the classic text from another client:
“We found a house online. Can you show it today?” 🏃🏼♀️
Of course. It had 47 offers already, but yes, absolutely, let’s emotionally attach ourselves immediately. 🏡💖
At 2:30 PM, I wrote an offer strong enough to make grown agents cry.
At 3:00 PM, we lost.
At 3:01 PM, my client said, “That’s okay, we didn’t love it anyway.”
By 4:45 PM, I was on my third “quick call” of the day that lasted 38 minutes.
And just when I thought I might sit down for five seconds… My phone buzzed again.
“Hey! We’re just starting to think about buying. Can you explain the entire process real quick?”
Real quick. Of course.
But honestly? I wouldn’t trade it.
Because somewhere between the chaos, the weird smells, the 47-offer heartbreaks, and the never-hot coffee… there’s that moment when a client gets the keys to their new home—and suddenly it all makes sense. 🔑
So no, today wasn’t an April Fools’ joke…
…but if it was, I’d still show up tomorrow 😄
